HARDWELL TRANSFORMS DANCE CLASSIC ‘INSANE’ INTO MODERN TECHNO ANTHEM

Electronic music pioneer Hardwell has unveiled his latest masterpiece – a powerful reimagining of Dark Monk’s seminal track ‘Insane’. The Dutch superstar’s remix transforms the 20-year-old classic into a contemporary mainstage techno weapon, perfectly suited for today’s festival circuit.

The new interpretation maintains the soul of the original, preserving Dark Monk’s iconic sample work while introducing Hardwell’s signature sound design. The remix features chopped-up vocals layered over driving basslines and industrial-strength kicks, creating a perfect balance between dark, brooding textures and explosive drops. This 2025 version pushes the boundaries of the original while paying homage to its euphoric melodies.

Dark Monk, comprised of UK electronic music veterans Jan Carbon and James Reynolds, first released ‘Insane’ on Incentive Records. The original track, which featured vocals from newcomer Mim and sampled Moby’s 1992 dance-pop hit ‘Go’, became a defining moment in club culture both in the UK and internationally.

Hardwell’s journey from EDM superstar to techno innovator has been marked by significant achievements, including collaborations with industry giants David Guetta, Calvin Harris, and Coldplay. His transition to Big Room Techno was solidified with his second studio album, REBELS NEVER DIE, which spawned hits like ‘XTC’, ’16’, ‘The Abyss’, ‘Move’, ‘Acid’, ‘No Sleep’, and the recent ‘Cambodia’.

The year ahead looks promising for Hardwell, with confirmed appearances at major festivals including Ultra Music Festival, A Summer Story, AURA Festival, Electric Love Festival, Airbeat One Festival, Parookaville, Medusa Festival, and Tomorrowland.
