Benjamin Prevoo – Urban Rebel PR Interview

In this edition of URPR’s interview series, we sit down with French radio personality and host Benjamin Prevoo as he sheds light on his career in radio as the host and creator of long-running radio show So French, So Good. 

1.Tell us about your radio show ‘So French, So Good’, where did the name come from? 

 My radio show started eight years ago. The concept of this project, which is very close to my heart, is to showcase and celebrate artists, DJs and producers, with interviews and guest mixes.

The name of the show is inspired by the French label ‘ So French Records, ‘ of which I am part of the team. 

Every year in summer, I host a competition where the artists submit their track in order to appear on the summer compilation which is realised every July on all music platforms and in CD format 

2.How can you describe the process of producing a radio show? 

 Given that my concept has existed for several years, I go through the tracks that I receive and select for the how, I invite an artist, DJ and or producer per show and the show is scheduled. Currently, social networks quickly facilitate my programming choices. 

3. What drew you to the dance music scene, and who are some of your favourite artists in the genre? 

I have always loved this style of electronic music. I have a lot of favourite artists and I often receive a lot a of new music from both internationally renowned artists and smaller, lesser-known producers which is fantastic as they keep the world of music evolving. 

4.What kind of problems have you encountered while producing your radio show and how did you overcome these challenges? 

I’ve never encountered many problems in general, just small last minute adjustments.

5.You have recently began syndicating to some FM stations in France and Belgium, how did this growth come about? 

 First I aired my shows in Belgium on www.run.be and subsequently, they are broadcast on other radio stations in France www.electrolivedj.com , Belgium www.pulseair.be and Cameroun www.ryfradio.com  so it’s been an organic process. 

 6.Who is your dream guest for the show and why? 

I don’t particularly have a dream guest…I’m already having a great time with my guests and I’m always open to chat to new people and hear about their music.

 7.What advice would you give to someone who wants to get started in the world of radio? 

 Let them set out to make a living from their passion . 

8.Where do you see So French, So Good in 5 years? 

 I hope to continue growing the show’s association with bigger stations and covering more countries so I can keep sharing new music and celebrating artists. 

 9.Outside of music/radio, what other passions do you have/how do you enjoy spending your time? 

 People might not know but my other job is as a cook. So that’s definitely one of my passions. 

 10Finally, what are you most looking forward to in 2024? 

For the 2024/2025 season we always share with you the best and the guest artists on my radio show.
