DJs From Mars – Urban Rebel PR Interview

Famous for their signature box head style and their mastery when it comes to creating unique mashups and bootlegs, Italian duo DJs From Mars are now entering the next phase of their career by putting more of a focus on original productions. One of their latest ones is a massive collaboration with David Guetta and Audio Bullys, ‘Things I Haven’t Told You’, which is already taking over stages worldwide to huge crowd reactions. We got up with the masked moguls to chat about this new release and more.

As a DJ/ artist, how would you describe your sound/energy behind the decks/ on stage? 

Our mission is: Make people sing and dance. So our sets are full of songs that everyone can sing along to, but they’re all remixed and mashed-up by ourselves in our “alien-electro” style so we add the coolest drops to make them dance… We try to keep our sound cool so it feels like an electronic set, but always full of songs that strike people’s chords with euphoria or nostalgia…it’s like an emotional version of electro! 

Please tell us about your latest collaboration with David Guetta & Audio Bullys, ‘Things I Haven’t Told You’! 

It started out as a mash-up for David’s sets (we’ve worked with him for a long time creating the edits that he plays). But since the reaction was crazy, he decided to release it as an official track. We can’t be happier because of course it’s a collaboration with the biggest name in the game, but it also makes sense for us because it’s basically an original mash-up, so it’s like a natural evolution for us! 

How did the DJs From Mars journey begin? 

We started creating mash-ups when we were resident djs in our hometown Turin (Italy). We needed different edits of the pop hits because we had to play 6 hours per night, so we started producing these bootlegs. They were working so great, so we decided to upload the best ones on YouTube, and they were immediately receiving views and attention, worldwide. So we focused on these “unofficial” edits for some months, and we started receiving official remixes requests. And after that, the first bookings. It was really quick and we didn’t realise what was happening, but all of a sudden we were touring worldwide playing these mash-ups we produced in our bedroom…15 years later, we’re still touring and producing bootlegs.

Outside of music, what other passions do you have/ how do you enjoy spending your time?

Funnily enough – we spend most of our time in the studio so when we have some free time we listen to music (because we can’t do that while producing our own). We really love every kind of music, no matter the style or genre, so we love to spend a day off listening to new releases or old classics, that’s where the ideas for our mash-ups come from. 

What’s on your bucket list as an artist?

We have a massive amount of views and streams for our mash-ups, but still people asks why can’t they find them on Spotify…the answer is, because they’re all unofficial edits! So we want to take it to the next level and release original music. But still with a mash-up attitude, so maybe reworks or remixes. We feel that this is going to be the natural evolution of our journey. 

What’s your best motivational tip for getting things done? 

When we started, our goal was just waking up every day and make music. We don’t know why it happened but probably because our productions were causing emotional reactions to the listeners. So what we are still trying to do today is creating tracks and edits that could make people remember what happened in our sets. The best set for us is when we play the last record and we see people in the crowd asking for more, this is really motivating and it’s the reason we wake up every day and try to make the best music for people who comes to our shows! 

What is the best festival or show you’ve performed at and why was it so memorable? 

Probably when we played this new release with David Guetta during his set at Ushuaïa in Ibiza. He introduced us on stage, he announced the track we were releasing together, and we felt like people was going crazy screaming when the drop started! That was definitely the best moment of our career on a stage! But also Tomorrowland Mainstage in 2022 was super emotional, we couldn’t believe that from our hometown, thanks to our mash-ups, we were playing in the most important electronic festival in the world… 

Which two artists would you most love to collaborate with on a song? 

There are so many artists we love but if we have to dream big and choose only 2, it’s going to be Eminem and Adele. Eminem is probably the best rapper in history and his vocals are musically great – not even considering the word’s meanings and technical tricks, because he’s using his voice like an actual instrument: even on a straight 4/4 beat he’s able to add a unique groove just by rapping on it. And Adele, what can we say, she’s probably the most emotional singer alive so we guess even on a flat pad she’d be able to create a masterpiece!   

But if the list was bigger and it could include also singers from the past it would be full of names like Bob Marley, Notorious BIG, Chester from Linkin Park, Ozzy Osbourne…and we could fill 2 more pages haha! 

It’s the last party on earth; the crowd are shouting, “One more tune”. What track do you play as your encore finale?  

It’s probably going to be “One More Time” by Daft Punk, mashed-up with “Love Tonight” by Shouse (it’s actually one of the mash-ups we still play a lot in our sets….). “One More Time” would be a wish for the parties to continue because life without music wouldn’t be possible in our opinion!! And “Love Tonight” because it’s always a goosebump vocal, so that would be the perfect way to make everyone go back home with a smile on their faces. 

Finally, what else are you most looking forward to in 2025? 

2025 has been great already! We had this great release with David, plus one of the busiest summer tours ever, and also other great releases in the past months with Tujamo, Plastik Funk, and more….For this last part of the year we hope to release another big collab we already finished with another big name in the scene, plus a new bootleg pack in September, and other news that we can’t still talk about, so just stay tuned!
