Kenn Colt is a Belgium-born but Spain based DJ, producer, label boss and radio show host who has been making waves in the industry thanks to his signature tech house sound infused with Latin flavour. We spoke to the talented selector about his recent release ‘ChanChan’,what he gets up to in his spare time as well as what he has planned for the rest of 2024!

1.As a DJ, how would you describe your sound/energy behind the decks?

High energy, good vibes, smiles and happiness. I love to bring a smile on peoples faces.

2.Is there one song/album or artist from your teenage years which stands out?

By reading the title I somehow thought about teenage dirtbag, that was a good song but not my favorite. I think I would go for Eminem, the album that came out with all his hits (classics by now) were so great, shouting all the lyrics out loud with all the dirty words, good times.

3.Outside of music, what other passions do you have/ how do you enjoy spending your time?

Outside of music, I have a deep passion for traveling and exploring other cultures.

4.One of the aspects I enjoy most about traveling is the opportunity to engage with locals and learn from their unique perspectives. I am also a foodie so I really enjoy trying out local cuisine.

I also find great joy in nature and outdoor activities. Snowboarding, hiking & surfing are definitely at the top of my list.

5.Who would be your dream guests, dead or alive, to invite to your dinner party?

Avicii and Martin Garrix. I love Martin’s vibe, I met him a couple times and is always super friendly and good vibes with him

6.What’s your best motivational tip for getting things done?

Maintaining organization is crucial for me to stay on top of my tasks and goals, especially during busy periods I have a calendar that is always updated, to-do lists, planning boards…all of it.

Work-life balance is very important to me so I make sure to schedule regular breaks to rest and recharge. Taking time for self-care and relaxation is essential for maintaining motivation and preventing burnout. It can be as simple as a 30 minute nap or a walk in the park with my dog. Just make sure to take care of yourself too.

7.What is the best DJ set you’ve ever seen and why was it so memorable?

HOLO by Eric Prydz the HOLO show is just another level of visuals that come to life and kinda touch you. It gives another dimension about going to festivals.

8.What can you tell us about the creative processes behind the production of ‘Chan Chan’? How did it differ from past releases?

I mentioned earlier that I love to travel. Well, Chan Chan was inspired by my love for Latin music and culture. I recently just got back from a 3-month tour in LATAM. During that tour, I finished the production of Chan Chan. I was inspired a lot by their local music, classics and new ones. I also enjoy watching a lot of street musicians! I infused these experiences into the production of the track.

9. It’s the last party on earth; the crowd are shouting, “One more tune”. What track do you play as your encore finale?

It would be “Come Back To Me” which I produced for my deceased girlfriend. Indescribable what this song does for me.

10.Finally, what are you most looking forward to in 2024?

I have lots of plans for 2024, definitely more music coming soon. Lots of collaborations too so I’m very excited. Stay tuned for more exciting updates and new music by following me on my socials!
