Wadrez – Urban Rebel PR Interview
Hailing from Split, Croatia, Wadrez is a producer and DJ whose sound has been shaped by the city’s rich electronic music heritage. Beginning his journey in dubstep and drum and bass, he developed a rhythm-driven style that has since evolved into a distinctive sonic identity.
His career has taken him from the studio to stages across the Balkans and beyond, touring as the DJ for some of Croatia’s biggest trap and rap artists before returning his focus to his own music. Today, alongside producing original releases, he holds nightclub residencies across the Adriatic coast while continuing to push his sound in new directions.
At the heart of Wadrez’s creative vision is what he describes as Spiritual Anarchy, a philosophy built around artistic freedom, constant experimentation, and refusing to be confined by genre. As his profile continues to grow, we caught up with Wadrez to talk about his journey, influences, and what’s next.
Q: As a DJ/ artist, how would you describe your sound/energy behind the decks/ on stage?
I started out producing dubstep and drum and bass years ago, and honestly that was my first love in electronic music. Even though I’ve turned the page and moved into four on the floor, those roots never really left, and they still inspire me in my production today.
I love blending genres, and I’m always thinking about what the music does to a dancefloor. And my favourite thing? Surprise tracks. Little easter eggs hidden in every set. Keeps people on their toes and keeps me happy.
Q: Please tell us about your new release ‘Lere Tekno’? What’s the story behind the track?
I couldn’t stop making clicking and gurgling sounds with my mouth for days. So, I recorded them on my phone and layered Brazilian baile funk rhythms beneath. From that obsession came Lere Tekno, a dark, groove-heavy tech house with a hypnotic bassline, driving percussion, and Spanish vocals. The blend of tech house and baile rhythm came from tongue clicking, and that’s exactly what made it interesting for me.
Q: Any further tracks to come from Wadrez in 2026?
Definitely! One more summer track is dropping in late August, and the plan is to keep releasing until the end of 2026, around five more tracks. What makes it extra exciting is that I’m currently building my own label, and diving into that world keeps me more inspired than ever.
Q: How has your year been so far? Any highlights you’d like to share?
The first part of the year was mostly spent in the studio producing and filming my Spiritual Anarchy DJ set series around some really cool locations in Croatia. Then came the prep for the summer season, and right now I’m right in the middle of it, travelling from club to club, residency to residency. I’d highlight this whole summer as my biggest moment so far; it gives me all the energy in the world and drains it all at the same time. Haha. But I wouldn’t change it.
Q: Outside of music, what other passions do you have/ how do you enjoy spending your time?
I’m currently learning Spanish, which has become my go-to way of recharging after gigs. You know that scene in Men in Black where they flash the thing, and everyone forgets everything? That’s basically what Spanish does for me after a night behind the decks. Total reset. I also play guitar and drink probably way too much coffee in my free time.
Q: What’s on your bucket list as an artist?
Where do I even start? An Ibiza residency is definitely up there, making music for films is another one, and somewhere down the line I’d love to have a rock band after my electronic journey. Safe to say I’m keeping myself busy for the next few decades.
Q: What’s your best motivational tip for getting things done?
For me, it’s simple. There are no problems, only solutions. I just try to look at every situation that way and eventually you find the answer. Once that mindset clicks, getting things done becomes a lot easier. At least that’s what works for me.
Q: Which two artists would you most love to witness collaborate on a song?
If I could pick any two artists to collaborate, it would have to be Skrillex and Metallica. I know it sounds crazy but I think that studio session would be something really interesting to witness.
Q: It’s the last party on earth; the crowd are shouting, “One more tune”. What track do you play as your encore finale?
Honestly impossible question, but if I had to pick one right now, it would be Ministers De La Funk feat. Jocelyn Brown – Believe (Ministers Vocal Mix). I remember listening to it back in 2006, and I wouldn’t mind ending the world with that one.
Q: Finally, what are you most looking forward to in the second half of 2026?
Once the summer madness settles down, I’m moving into a new studio which I’m really excited about. There’s also a lot of new content coming: more Spiritual Anarchy DJ mixes, new releases and honestly just building on everything that’s been set up this year. The second half of 2026 is going to be fun.
