Walo Wereka – Urban Rebel PR Interview
DJ and Producer, Walo Wereka is transmitting his melodic techno and progressive house sound around Mexico and beyond. Originally from Guadalajara, Jal, the upcoming artist is making his name known in his local city as a versatile DJ with an ear for all genres.
We put UR 10 questions to Walo Warek.
1.As a DJ, how would you describe your sound/energy behind the decks?
I would describe my sound as melodic and energetic, sometimes triggered with harder beats. I play a blend of melodic techno but also love to throw some progressive house in the mix! I love bringing the energy up every time I play and, in some cases, enjoy improvising. As a DJ, I feel if you aren’t enjoying the music, then the crowd won’t be. it’s important to feel the music and as a producer, I think I have the ability to detect the perfect harmony on a track mix.
2. Is there one song/album or artist from your teenage years which stands out?
Yes! probably would be the song ‘Born Slippy’ from Underworld or ‘Infinity’ from Guru Josh. Both are great songs!
3. Outside of music, what other passions do you have/ how do you enjoy spending your time?
I love to travel to different places and countries. It helps me to understand different cultures and perspectives and personally, interiorize myself.
4. What’s on your bucket list as an artist?
Being a part of an Afterlife DJ line-up or signing on the label.
5. Who would be your dream guests to join you on a one-off podcast special?
It would be an honour to talk with Anyma or duo ARTBAT. Either of those two would be awesome!
6. What’s your best motivational tip for getting things done?
Focus on being just a little bit better every day. Enjoy what you dream for and listen to a tonne of music. Networking is very important to find your community and new opportunities.
7. What is the best DJ set you’ve seen this year/ever and why was it so memorable?
The sounds that Anyma is playing are amazing! I enjoyed so much seeing him live. There’s so much love in what he is expressing and what he is transmitting to the crowd.
8. Which two artists would you most love to witness collaborate on a song?
…Anyma and ARTBAT!
9.It’s the last party on earth; the crowd are shouting, “One more tune”. What track do you play as your encore finale?
Definitely Depeche Mode ‘Ghosts Again’ the Massano Remix. So much energy and a vibrant ending for a memorable DJ set.
10. Finally, what are you most looking forward to in 2025?
To produce even more music and collab with more artists. I’m also looking to play at some huge festivals.
