Aura Bay

Aura Bay Open Air is a new permanent open-air events venue set on Óbudai Island (Hajógyári-sziget). This historic former shipyard sits on the Danube in the heart of Budapest. Once a working industrial island, the site has been reimagined as a year-round destination. Its outdoor venue brings world-class live music to one of the most atmospheric riverside settings in the city. The environment is the draw. Along the waterfront, a 20-metre illuminated LED whale rises as Budapest’s newest landmark.

Across the grounds, a walkable illuminated pyramid, the botanical light garden of Blooms Park, the Crystal Garden, the twin 4,000-LED sculpture faces of Talking Heads and the interactive Kickit light-ball court create a living, luminous landscape. After dark, the entire venue transforms: light and music become inseparable, and the space itself becomes part of the experience.

Aura Bay Open Air sits within a broader destination that combines immersive light experiences with outdoor events, but as a venue it stands on its own. A permanent home engineered for international artists, immersive staging and repeat, large-scale programming rather than a temporary festival build.

The long-term vision is ambitious: to establish Aura Bay Open Air as a world-class outdoor venue on a par with Europe’s leading open-air destinations, delivering year-round music programming within an extraordinary visual environment and building an international profile for Budapest on the Danube.
