Cine International Film Festival are proud to debut 35 Years Of Perfecto Records, which will feature at this year’s debut edition of London’s new film festival alongside a diverse and exciting range of new movies that include a new documentary about John Lennon and Heaven Nightclub.
Since its inception Paul Oakenfold’s prolific Perfecto has grown into a internationally acclaimed brand that includes events, streetwear, a globally syndicated radio show and of course a much loved record label that over the last 35 years has released music from the likes of Paul Oakenfold, David Guetta, Tiesto, Carl Cox, Marc Almond, Pharrell Williams, PPK, BT, Grace, Jan Johnston, Tori Amos, Man With No Name, Tilt, Quivver, Ce Ce Peniston, Fabio & Groove Rider, Astrix, Dope Smugglaz, Hernan Cattaneo, Timo Maas, Vini Vici, Rui da Silva, Infected Mushroom, Harry “Choo Choo” Romero, Sophie Ellis-Bextor, Robert Owens, Ice Cube, Nelly Furtado, Nat Monday and many more….
Could Perfecto be the longest-running electronic music label in the history of music? It’s possible, but what’s certain is that since its birth, the iconic British label has consistently been at the forefront of the scene, pushing a diverse range of artists, genres and musical styles to the ever-expanding global community of dance music fans.
In 2003 ,Queen Elizabeth II awarded Paul Oakenfold with “Pioneer Of The Nation” for his contributions to the UK music industry and for his influence in establishing and shaping the electronic scene through the 90s. A lot of the credit for that award must be given to Paul’s influential approach to A&R and artist development.

From Grace’s 1995 commercial chart topping hit “Not Over Yet” to the 1999 Cream anthem “Bullet In The Gun” which firmly established trance as the hottest genre in the UK that year, Perfecto Records set the tone and bar on which many of today’s biggest independent labels based their manifesto on. Always focused on the dancefloor but with radio and wider commercial appeal in mind, Perfecto’s mantra has always been to find, sign and release cutting edge music without ever being pigeon holed by genre. From house or trance to drum n bass, techno, progressive, UKG, dubstep or drum ‘n bass – Perfecto Records is and always has been the kite mark for quality, and this documentary tells the story through the eyes of those that lived it.
With new interviews from David Guetta, Pete Tong, Fatboy Slim, Carl Cox, Armin van Buuren and of course Paul Oakenfold and the team who built Perfecto – this film gives a true insight into a record label that defined a generation.
From tours with U2 and Madonna to impromptu pop-up parties on The Great Wall of China or at Stonehenge and Everest Base Camp, 35 Years of Perfecto Records is a tribute to a brand that has stood proud through every phase of dance music’s evolutions – from the illegal raves of the late 80’s to the biggest festivals and clubs of today.
